Home Visits
Elevators go both ways and as a group we'd like to help people connect whatever health level they're at.
Valuing the Severely-Affected
About 25% of people with ME/CFS are house-bound or bed-ridden. However, we recognise that a person's level of health and ability is a separate measure to a persons level of character and value. We believe that every human life is valuable.
Home Visits
If an individual is with ME/CFS too unwell to attend the events we try to send a couple of DBS checked (formerly CRB) volunteers to a home if the person is able to have visitors and would like this. Whether or not this can happen, and how often, depends on the availability of volunteer time and sometimes other factors.
Other ways for the severely affected to connect with Elevate
- Facebook group (if well enough).
- Econnect (like a penpal system starting with email contact.
- If a person who is severely affected is not able to manage any of these options let us know and we'll see if can arrange for people to send cards and short messages without expecting a reply, or anything else that may be helpful.
- Informal localised connections. Increasingly we are connecting people who live near each other and this may lead to the forming of friendships which could either result in home visits or at least correspondence.
